I’m thinking of buying a GTX 970 but I’m wondering if 2 will fit in my hp Pavilion desktop.

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

The fit issue is secondary to your question.

 

The motherboard has to support Nvidia SLI to run two graphics cards. SLI requires HP to pay a royalty to Nvidia to include this motherboard option.
