I currently have an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop (Ryzen 5 + GTX 1650 Super, 8GB/256GB) and I’m moving everything into a new case with a new motherboard and CPU.

My new parts are:

Motherboard: ASUS Prime H610M-E D4

CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF

I’m wondering if it’s possible to reuse the CPU cooler/fan from the HP system on this new motherboard and processor

Greetings @Dack1

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The recent Pavilion PCs I am familiar with use some proprietary components:

1. Case

2. Power supply

3. MB

You might need a new retail power supply having a standard 24 pin MB connector.

The HP CPU heatsink/fan installed in the HP MB should fit in the Asus Intel MB. You'll have to remove the HP MB from the case to check for a CPU socket backplate.

Some PC manufacturers mount the CPU heatsink directly to the case (the MB tray). You can't use the HP CPU heatsink if there is no backplate.

I don't know if the HP stock CPU cooler can keep the 12600KF thermals in check.

You might have to buy a better CPU cooler.

Regards
