Hi,

 

I'd like to know if my operating system is compatible with MSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GAMING X TRIO Graphics Card? I  currently have a desktop OMEN  MODEL #. 870-290

@Zo2020 , welcome to the forum.

 

There are two main things to consider when choosing a video card upgrade: 1) the wattage required to run the card properly and 2) the length of the card.  The wattage to run the 2080 is 250W and a power supply unit (PSU) with 650W and 2x8-pin PCIe power connectors.  The length of the card is 12.91" (328 mm).  Here is a HP Knowledge Base article to help you with your determination: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Knowledge-Base/Upgrade-Video-Card/ta-p/7481981

 

Your motherboard does have UEFI.  So, this is not a problem.  However, I am concerned about the length of the card.  It requires enough space to allow for good airflow.  I have the card in my custom build and it develops a lot of heat.  You will definitely have to upgrade the PSU, also.  The video card slot on the motherboard is PCI Express 3.0 x16: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-870-200/13687063/model/15741075/document/c05378084
