I have a AMD Radeon HD 6570 1GB video card and want to install DOOM. My card seems to be below the required minimum. The game suggests the NVIDIA GTX 670 2GB as the minimum. I am capable of performing a video card swap, I am just unsure if the motheroard and the computer will support this card. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi,
The NVIDIA GTX 670s have been known to be finicky at times with some motherboards. You'll need a minimum of a 500 watt power supply with two 6 pin PCIe auxiliary power connectors.
You might want to recheck the system requirements based on your screen resolution.

Thank you for your reply and information. I have upgraded to a 500 Watt power supply. If the NVIDIA GTX 670 may be finicky, might the AMD Radeon HD 7870 2 GB card be a better choice?

Hi,
Performance advantages between the 7870 and 670 would depend on application design. The newer games would take advantage of DirectX 12 but neither of these older cards supports DirectX 12.

Thanks again Dave. I am not an avid gamer and I realize that my computer is a few years old. Can you recommennd a video card that will get me at an entry level to the current Direct X without breaking the bank?

Hi,
All of the newer graphics cards that would take advantage of DirectX 12 are UEFI models which will not work in your PC. Still, you should be able to run DOOM.
BTW-- Be advised of these games and DirectX 12.
