hp omen 870-224
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey. Just wondering if anyone has tried the hp omen 870-224 with a rtx 2060 super card in it. Aside from a psu did you need anything else? Any fabrication to case? Any info would be great.

Thank  you

@Ddelgado109 , welcome to the forum.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article about upgrading your video card:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Knowledge-Base/Upgrade-Video-Card/ta-p/7447100

It will help you decide if the card will fit into your case leaving space for good airflow.  Good airflow is extremely necessary with these newer high-power cards.  Here are the Specifications of the card from nVidia:  https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/rtx-2060-super/?ncid=afm-chs-44270&ranMID=44270&...

You can check different manufacturers to see if they have a card that is shorter.  Your motherboard is 9.4" x 9.4":  https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-870-200/13687063/document/c05355651

This information is in the section titled "Form Factor".  Also, you should buy a power supply unit (PSU) that is 100W to 150W more than required by the card, as stated in the article.  I like Corsair products.  A fully modular PSU would be good in your smaller case.  It will allow you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.

I don't recommend trying to modify your case to make the card fit.  This will change the airflow in the case and may cause damage to other components.
