Im an hp victus user and From past few weeks I'm facing the problem of microphone which is not even taking voice commands on any of the platforms, apps or websites while all the permissions are being given respectively. And when I try to connect my laptop with headset with 3.5 mm wired jack they also don't take any input. But the bluetooth are working properly without creating a problem of microphone.

Hi @Aniket_Maurya04

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for laying this out so clearly—when voice input fails across all apps and platforms, it’s understandably frustrating, especially when Bluetooth works flawlessly. This points to a problem with how Windows is handling your internal and 3.5 mm audio input devices.

Here's how to restore microphone functionality:

Step-by-step troubleshooting

Check default recording device

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Sound settings.
  • Scroll to Input > Choose a device for speaking or recording.
  • Select Internal Microphone or Headset Microphone (whichever you’re using).
  • Click Device Properties > Additional device properties > Levels and ensure the mic isn’t muted or set too low.

Run the microphone troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter.
  • Follow the prompts to detect and fix input issues.

Update or reinstall audio drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs and Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click each microphone and audio device > Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop to reinstall drivers automatically.
  • Alternatively, download the latest drivers from HP’s support page:
HP Victus 16 – Drivers and Downloads

Check Realtek Audio Console or OMEN Audio Control

  • If installed, open Realtek Audio Console or OMEN Audio Control.
  • Confirm that the microphone is enabled and not redirected to another input.
  • Disable any noise suppression or enhancement features temporarily.

Test with a different wired headset

  • Try a headset with a TRRS connector (4-pole) that supports mic input.
  • Some 3.5 mm jacks only support stereo audio unless paired with a compatible headset.

BIOS and firmware update

  • Visit HP’s support page and install the latest BIOS and firmware updates.
  • This can resolve low-level audio routing issues.

Let me know if you’d like help locating your exact audio driver or testing input with a specific app like Zoom or Discord. I’ll guide you through it.
