Greetings @Sully-wr84

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Many folks having Laptops/Notebooks post in the Forum Desktop Boards.

A Desktop 5:3 startup error indicates some component connected to your PC's MB isn't communicating with the BIOS at startup.

This is a nebulous problem description. The cause of the startup error cold be any component connected to the MB??

A Laptop 5:3 startup error is equally nebulous. This error indicates some accessory device connected to your PC isn't communicating with the BIOS at startup.

I don't know. So Desktop troubleshooting would involve looking at: a component you might have installed in the PC's MB, or any other add-in factory component.

Laptop troubleshooting would start by removing all connected USB peripherals.
