Hi:

Your notebook's NVMe slot is PCIe Gen 3.

While a Gen 4 SSD will work, it will only run at the max speed allowed by the Gen 3 slot, which is around 3,500 MBPS read/write.

If you don't plan on transferring the drive to a newer model notebook in the future that fully supports a Gen 4 SSD, and you want a 2 TB NVMe SSD, you may want to look into the Western Digital Blue SN570.

You're already maxed out with the memory.

In the future, if you want to look up the PCie gen speed for a notebook, you can go to the applicable AMD or Intel website and look up the processor specs.

That is because notebook processors have been integral parts of the motherboard for many years now.

Intel Core i78750H Processor 9M Cache up to 4.10 GHz Product Specifications

If you look under the Expansion Options section for the processor, you will see that the connectivity is PCIe Gen 3.

Based on the provided information, the HP 8574 (U3E1) motherboard in your OMEN by HP laptop supports PCIe NVMe storage but may not support PCIe NVMe Gen 4 specifically. The PCIe NVMe Gen 4 is a newer technology that offers faster data transfer rates than previous generations.

It's recommended to check the specifications or consult the documentation of your specific motherboard model, the HP 8574 (U3E1), to determine its supported storage interfaces and speeds. This information will confirm whether it supports PCIe NVMe Gen 4 or is limited to earlier generations like Gen 3.

If your motherboard does not support PCIe NVMe Gen 4, you can still benefit from significant improvements in gaming performance by opting for a PCIe NVMe Gen 3 SSD. These drives offer faster speeds compared to traditional HDDs and can provide a noticeable boost in system responsiveness and game loading times.

Here are a few examples of PCIe NVMe Gen 3 SSDs that would be compatible with your system and offer improved gaming performance:

  1. Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD
  2. WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD
  3. Crucial P5 NVMe SSD
  4. Kingston A2000 NVMe SSD
  5. Seagate FireCuda 520 NVMe SSD

These SSDs provide faster read and write speeds than your current storage configuration, including a 119GB SSD and a 931GB HDD. Upgrading to a larger and faster NVMe SSD can significantly enhance your gaming experience by reducing load times and improving overall system responsiveness.
