@Tambazxc

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you would like to know if the GTX 1050 Ti video card is compatible with your HP Pavilion 500-214 Desktop PC.

I did check the specifications of the motherboard. The motherboard has a PCI Express x16 (Gen 2.0) slot and the card requires a Bus Support of PCIe 3.0. Therefore this card may not be the right one.

You may view the complete motherboard specifications via this link

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Cheers! 🙂

Hi Tambazxc

It is true the 1050Ti is PCIe 3.0. However, many 3.0 graphics cards will work on a PCIe 2.0 bus as they are backwards compatible.

Check with graphics manufacturer. You have UEFI BIOS so the card will work.

I know EVGA 1000 series cards will work on PCIe 2.0. I have an Nvidia 1070 installed on my HP having a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. The card works fine.

You have some BIOS changes that need to made to run a different card.

In BIOS Security tab you must disable Secure boot and enable Legacy Boot before installing the 1050.

You should also uninstall current graphics drivers before installing the new graphics card.

Don't forget to depress the X16 retention tab before removing the old card or installing a new card or you can damage the x16 slot and/or the new graphics card.

Grzy
