Product: OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000i (1S3R9AV)

For the past half year or so my PC's audio has been crackling. It sounds as if some sounds are too difficult for it (in normal Youtube videos) or as if it doesn't have enough power to play sound and move the mouse.

 

I have tried replacing the speakers and uninstalling/reinstalling audio drivers.

 

However, getting new drivers for the Intel "Smart" Sound Technology SST Audio Controllers appears to be difficult. The installed (and allegedly newest available) driver is from 17/6/2021 and the driver on HP's web site (sp112846.exe) is even older (March 2021) and won't install (returns 1 immediately).

 

I have a parallel issue in that the PC refuses to install a BIOS update (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Cannot-install-BIOS-update/m-p/8581833#M21019) but I don't know if this is related.

 

Any ideas?
