HP ENVY 27 inch AiO Desktop PC 27-cp0000i (4E0F8AV)

Hi Everyone,

My new HP ENVY All-In-One cp0006na arrived with 32GB of RAM installed in slots 1&2 (16GB each), and two spare RAM slots.

I want to add another 32GB of RAM so there's 16GB in each slot.

I tried buying RAM of the exact same spec as that already installed, but received a "Unsupported memory found!" error on boot after installing.

So I tried buying the 'official' HP RAM (Item 5S4C4AA), again with the exact same spec as the RAM already installed. After installation I received the same error message.

Has anyone managed to upgrade the RAM on this unit?

...It might not help that the two sticks I ordered from HP were made by different manufacturers? (Samsung & SK hynix)

@db_London,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

According to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c08184152, your HP ENVY All-In-One PC 27-cp0006na (69D32EA) is fitted with the Angel motherboard (SSID: 8928).

According to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c08151586, and: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/envy-27-cp0000-all-in-one, you should be able to upgrade your AIO with up to 4 x 32GB of DDR5 PC5-32000, 4000 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 262-pin RAM modules. You can install DDR5 PC5-38400, 4800 MHz RAM, but it will down throttle at 4000 MHz, such as seen with this HP ENVY All-in-One Desktop 27-cp0xxx User:

Point is, HP computers can be finnicky with regard to RAM and achieving max RAM speed. We know that mixing different brands of RAM is not conducive to achieve best RAM performance, or it may simply not work at all.

Another issue that may at play here, is that if you install DDR5 PC5-44800, 5600 MHz RAM, it may be able to down throttle to 5200 MHz or 4800 MHz, but NOT to 4000 MHz.

Kind Regards,
