Every time I go into the omen gaming hub and go into the lighting section it says there’s an error saying: cannot connect to the lighting controller board.  Please turn off your system and make sure all the lighting controller board connectors are properly connected and restart your system. When I haven’t been messing with any of that. What should I do?

Hi @Diego_1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

  1. Exact Laptop/Desktop Model
    • What is the exact model of your HP Omen device? (This helps check for known issues with the lighting controller on your specific unit.)
  2. Error Behaviour
    • Does this error appear every time you open the lighting section, or only sometimes?
    • Is the Omen Gaming Hub otherwise functioning correctly in other sections?
  3. Recent Changes
    • Have you recently installed any Windows updates, Gaming Hub updates, or BIOS updates?
    • Any recent software or hardware changes related to the keyboard, motherboard, or RGB components?
  4. Device Manager Check
    • In Device Manager → System Devices, do you see any “HP Lighting Controller” or similar devices with a yellow warning icon?
  5. Windows / Software Version
    • Which version of Windows are you running?
    • Which version of Omen Gaming Hub do you have installed?

Initial Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Restart & Reset
    • Fully shut down the system
    • Disconnect from power for a minute
    • Boot up and try opening the lighting section again
  2. Update or Reinstall Omen Gaming Hub
    • Uninstall the current Omen Gaming Hub
    • Download and install the latest version from the official HP site
  3. Check for Windows & Driver Updates
    • Update your chipset drivers, Intel/AMD drivers, and Windows updates
  4. Reset Lighting Controller (if supported)
    • Some Omen devices allow a lighting reset via HP Command Center or BIOS settings
  5. Safe Mode Test
    • Boot into Windows Safe Mode and see if the Omen Gaming Hub still gives the error (this helps determine if another application is interfering)

I hope this helps.
