Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I have been experiencing internet issues on my laptop and only my laptop. At 9:00 PM exactly the internet on my laptop just completely stops. This doesn’t happen on other devices like my phone and it comes back in the morning. I am wondering if this is like a setting on my laptop or that something is wrong. My internet connection is LAN.

Hi @CheeseCool ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing specific and consistent issues with your laptop's Wi-Fi connectivity at the same time every day, it could be related to a scheduled task, power management setting, or interference. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Scheduled Tasks:

  • Open Task Scheduler on your Windows 11 laptop.
  • Look for any tasks that are scheduled to run around 9:00 PM and may be affecting your network connectivity.
  • Disable or reschedule any tasks that coincide with the time you're facing issues.

Power Management Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Power & sleep."
  • Check your power plan settings, particularly the Wi-Fi power-saving options.
  • Adjust settings to ensure your Wi-Fi adapter isn't being turned off or put into a power-saving mode.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates.
  • Sometimes, issues like this can be resolved through system updates.

Network Troubleshooting:

  • Open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges.
  • Run the following commands:
  • ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh int ip reset
    netsh winsock reset
  • Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.

Router and Modem:

  • Restart your router and modem around the time the issue occurs. This might help clear any temporary network glitches.

Wi-Fi Channel Interference:

  • Download a Wi-Fi analyzer tool on your laptop and check for interference on your Wi-Fi channel.
  • If there's interference, consider changing your Wi-Fi channel in your router settings.

Firewall and Antivirus:

  • Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure they are not blocking internet access during that specific time.
  • Temporarily disable them to see if the issue persists.

Network Card Driver Update:

  • Ensure that your network card drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website or use Windows Update to check for the latest drivers.

Event Viewer:

  • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any logs around the time when the internet connection drops. This might provide clues about the cause of the issue.

Contact Internet Service Provider (ISP):

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be worth contacting your ISP to check if there are any known issues or outages in your area.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
