OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Omen Obelisk Desktop (about 6 months old) that frequently disconnects from WiFi. I don't have trouble with any other devices in my place and our router is new. Should be using the most up to date driver. What can I do to fix this?

Hi:

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with a Realtek RTL8822BE wifi adapter.

That model card has had problems ever since it came out and Realtek is constantly updating drivers in an effort to remedy the frequent network disconnection issues.

So, the only suggestion I can offer if you have not done so already would be to update the wifi and Bluetooth drivers to their latest versions and restart the PC.

Thank you for the help Paul. Is there a Wifi Adaptor you would recommend I purchase to replace the RealTek?

You're very welcome.

The Intel 9260 non-Vpro wifi adapter would make a good substitute.

Bear in mind that the antenna cables are extremely thin and delicate, so take special care when removing them from the Realtek wifi card.  They snap on over the antenna terminals.

Hi again Paul. I purchased and installed the WiFi card you recommended (and updated drivers). Everything seemed to be running better, but it recently started doing the disconnects again. Any idea why this could be happening? Thanks!

Hi:

Unfortunately, I don't.

I have the very same Intel 9260 non-Vpro card  in my Dell OptiPlex 7020 desktop PC and it has worked flawlessly for months now.
