Graphic card upgrade for OMEN Obelisk Desktop PC - 875-0014

Hi everyone:

I have a OMEN Obelisk Desktop PC - 875-0014 and I am interested in upgrading the GPU. I currently have a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1060 3GB.  Complete specs are below:   https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-875-0000-obelisk-desktop-pc-series/23302709/model/23...

I know any new GPU must meet the requirements of my power supply (500W), the form factor constraints, and the power connection configuration (looks like mine is 6 pin).  Can anyone please let me know what GPUs would definitely work with my computer?  I was hoping to learn from someone that had already completed a similar upgrade.

@Darthedmund , welcome to the forum.

This is not the standard Forum where people continue to come back to help others.  They normally come to get help and leave.  So, you probably won't get help from someone who has done this upgrade.

As you stated, your power supply unit (PSU) has 1x6-pin PCIe power connector.  Therefore, this limits the video card that you can buy.  Many of them require 1x8-pin or 2x8-pin or 1x6-pin and 1x8-pin PCIe power connectors.  A lot depends on what you do with the computer.

There are two major considerations when upgrading the video card: 1) the length of the card and 2) the wattage required to run it properly.  You can determine if the card will fit by measuring the space where the card will be installed.  There should be enough space to allow for good airflow.

All of the cards that I have reviewed that will run with your PSU only have 4 GB of video memory.  This is not a lot more than your current card.  Once you go to 6 GB of video memory the card requires at least 450W and a 1x8-pin connector.  This is close to the top of the wattage in your PSU.  It will work, however.

Double check that PCI-E power connector, I doubt that HP will put only 6 pin on a 500W PSU, plus I have a few of those PSUs and they are all 6+2. If yours is the same, your future choice of GPU will become easy.
