I have been having trouble with my HP 27er monitor connecting to my MacBook Air with an HDMI cable. It says that the HDMI ports are inactive and that no signal can be detected. It will work 90% of the time, but when I REALLY need it - like when I'm using Quickbooks, it craps out.

What can I do?

@csedlack,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues with your HP Monitor. Don't worry I'll do my best to help you with this.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes before the issue started?

Does the Monitor shuts down only while using Quickbooks or does it happen with any other programs?

Have you tried to check with reduced resolution?

Have you tried to use different HDMI cable?

Have you tried to use this Monitor on another computer?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Quick books has noting to do with the Monitor. So, I would suggest here is to try using reduced resolution and check if that helps.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you could try to perform a Monitor Reset: Try a monitor reset. Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up. If that doesn’t work then go into the monitor’s menu and do a factory reset.

Factory Reset:

  1. If the monitor has a factory reset or restore option, set it. Press the Menu button on the front panel and select Factory Reset.

  2. Wait 5 seconds and then turn on the computer by pressing the Power button again.

  3. Adjust the Windows display resolution to a setting that is compatible with the monitor.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
