Hi -

Trying to get the XMP profile to work correctly. Two sets of  CMW16GX4M2C3200C16

Attempting to run XMP Profile 1 with all 4 sticks installed. Each time has resulted in constant reboots until failure beeps occur.

I am able to successfully get the XMP profile to boot with only two slots installed (1,3 or 2,4)

I'm not sure what else to try I did attempt custom settings to increase voltage of the XMP profile to 1.4 to see if it would assist. Is this just a BIOS issue?

BIOS F.13 latest update via HP Software

I just looked at the F.13 bios release and it appears there was a change made exactly in the "overclocking" section

Fix and enhancements:

- Fixes issue where Memory OC page is missing in OGH Overclocking and but would have a redundant memory OC page in F10 advanced when plugged into HP memory.

Possibly something went wrong and not enough testing was done.

There may be other problems.  Are you sure the ram sticks are matching?  Generally if each of the pair work but not all together usually there are some differences.

Did you order all 4 at once or buy an additional two much later?  Manufacturers make changes to reduce cost over time and possibly the new chips have different timings than the old ones.

There are probably better apps, but can  you run CPU-z on each pair and compare the SPD results?  I do not have Omen system and am guessing that it might be possible to set a lower clock speed.

Another possibility is that the "extra" or "redundant" OC menu had extra items that were inadvertently left in the previous bios and a quick update was made to stop users from "messing' with features that might cause warrantee problems for HP.

Definitely bought all 4 at the same time. I’ll try to even extra mix and match . The page does seem to be lacking - it’s a very basic memory page.

I am having the same problem, it seems like HP is making it difficult for you to use all 4 DIMM slots, I tried talking to HP Tech Support and their only solution was to send my device in so they can take a look at it.

Also for your failure beeps did you get three long beeps and then two short beeps?

Yep im assuming this is a bios failure issue with XMP…. I don’t know how we get this flagged for HP attention

I talked to HP Tech Support and they told me the easiest thing to do was send it in and they would take a look, when it seems like this can be patched in the bios, as for XMP profiles, I disabled it and then tried to add the RAM but that did not work either.

Well perhaps multiple people complaining on this ticket will show its more of a bios issue than a individual hardware issue. Wish i didn't get a promo on the ram so I could just have got two 16GB instead of 4 8GB

have a ticket open with HP to investigate 4 sticks/XMP

I do too, but I was told the RAM was probably faulty (I told them all 4 sticks worked together on a different desktop) and since it was not the default RAM the system came with there is no guarantee it would work, I asked about getting the RAM the system comes with (the very specific build of hyper fury) they said no.

They told me I could take it to best buy to get it looked at, they tried 4 sticks did not work and they told me that its probably something in HPs BIOS that is preventing 4 sticks from running.

Told HP tech support this, they said HP does not do that and its an isolated case but its funny how many people have the same problem. So I do not think it will ever get fixed at this point.
