Microsoft Windows 11

Turned on the PC today, everything booted normally, then Windows had me install a DTS driver update, and after restarting it gave me a 90B fan error message.

To be clear, the fan is running, I can see it, I can hear it. It's loud as heck. Just got this thing a few weeks ago from HP, so it's brand new, still under warranty. Everything else runs fine. Just the noise is now loud and annoying.

Checked bios, it's up to date, checked the other HP drivers, they're up to date.

Is there a trick that might work to fix this? Would rather not contact HP just to have them send me a new fan/pc.

I assume it's a software or firmware issue, and not hardware (as the fan runs).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

@ProtoApostoli , welcome to the Community.

I suggest that you uninstall the DTS driver that appears to be causing your problem.  Here is a guide to help you.  Let me know if this doesn't work.

You are not the first user to have problems with Win 11 updates.

@Old_geekster Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Went through the guide, found the right driver, uninstalled using DISM, and the problem persists.

I caved and spoke to support, they said just replace the whole thing.

Kinda feels like a waste of their money in shipping and what not, and feels like a HUGE waste of time on my part to ship the dang thing back, and be without a PC for a week.

@ProtoApostoli, hey, I feel your pain about not having a computer for a week, but in the long run you will be much better off.  When you start off with a computer that has problems it doesn't always get better.  Trust me, I have gone down that road with other brands.

Good luck!!
