I just got in a HP Omen 30L GT13 AMD Chipset B550 motherboard..  I installed a AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core 3.6GHz Socket AM4 65W CPU and T-Force Vulcan 16GB DDR4 3000 (TLRED416G3000HC16CBK) RAM...

And I can't get it to boot...  There are no LED or BEEP codes to identify so I am unsure as to why it won't boot.. I have tested the memory and the CPU on other boards and they work..

One question I have is the placement of the RAM..

Does this MB have to be populated in pairs??

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Hi

Try the factory memory with the replacement CPU using HPs memory installation configuration. Same problem means you have a CPU issue. HP may not have provided microcode to recognize the Ryzen 5500. The CPU may not be seated correctly or damage may have occurred during CPU installation.

You don't need to install memory in pairs but it is not recommended to mix modules with different speed and latency timings. The timings on the new memory module may be incompatible with the HP MB.

You will see single channel performance when using one stick of memory. Dual channel operation will happen when you install two memory modules in every other memory slot (slot 1 and slot 3 or slot 2 and slot 4). Try a single stick of memory in slot 3 then try slot 4.

Thanx for the reply.. I will try those suggestions..

But I had progress...

In initial setup the below JUMPER was in the MID position..

OmenMB-2.jpg

I assume that was the PSW position..

I moved the Jumper to the BBR and now I am getting diagnostic blinks...

8 High pitched beeps.. Then alternating High Pitch/Low Pitch 2 beeps...

So, this is different..

I'll check your memory related suggestions now...

Thanx again for the reply.

Hi

My pleasure.

Check this link for BIOS error codes: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997210-1528385-16

Don't see eight. Maybe look at three and five or five and three. Three and five is a CPU error

I got a video of the diagnostic beeps..

After all those beeps, the MB just goes silent and nothing boots..

It should be noted that I only get those beeps when the JMPR is in the BBR position.. Not in the FDO or PSW positions..

Hi

HP does not identify an eight beep error code. I have no idea what that means.

A 2-2 error code is a corrupted BIOS. The 3-5 is the CPU or MB error. The 5-3 is a component/BIOS communication error.

Check the replacement Ryzen CPU for bent or missing pins.

I would go back to factory CPU and memory to check system.

Not sure exactly what happened, but I am booting up now.. 😄

I put the jumpers back to where they were and it booted up!!  😄

It does seem to take an inordinately long time to boot.. So maybe I just wasn't waiting long enough..

But thanx for the replies... Your assistance was greatly appreciated...
