OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P6AV)

I've recently upgraded my BIOS from F.22 to F.23 to resolve an issue I had with secure boot. Unfortunately, it would appear the F.23 BIOS seems to be the cause or catalyst for severe CPU overheating issues. Any game will bump the CPU up to just under or OVER 90c. Not sure if anyone else has had the issue but I'm seeing a spike in CPU usage I never saw before and without underclocking the PC at default settings is at risk of burning out the CPU. Twice I've had the computer shutoff due to the elevated CPU temps.

I'm not sure if I can roll back and if I can roll back will my BIOS revert to having the same issues with secure boot as it did before.

Hopefully there will be a fix for this BIOS as I fear my PC flat out dying. Even when undervolted the temps rise to higher than before, maybe there's a voltage issue with this new BIOS?

Greetings @Lewis329048

Okay, the latest HP BIOS update did seem to fix your PC's Secure Boot (PK) database problem?

Some AMD MBs are also now having an outdated TPM manufacturer version issue. This is causing problems when trying to play certain games such as Call Of Duty.

Wow, now you're having CPU thermal issues after updating the BIOS.

I am very surprised HP would roll out a BIOS which would cause thermal issues. Many HP Gaming PC owners want more power to the CPU which, in turn, causes higher CPU temps.

Are you trying to control CPU voltage using Ryzen Master?

I'm pretty sure you can do CPU curve optimizations using Ryzen Master (RM). And I think RM can do thermal limits. I do these two CPU tweaks in the BIOS on my retail MBs.

I do a negative 30 CPU curve and set a CPU thermal limit at 82 Degrees C within my MB's BIOS. Not much performance loss (about 100 MHz on all CPU cores) and CPU: temps/watts/voltage are under control.

But HP does not provide these BIOS options on gaming MBs.

You could try the above optimizations using RM to see if you can get CPU temps under control?

I don't use RM since I can do the CPU tweaks directly within the BIOS on my AMD MBs. So I'm not very familiar on what RM can do.

So it would probably be a good idea to check YouTube for tips on using RM.

I recently also updated my HP Omen 30L that has the "hana" 8876 motherboard to bios f23 and after the update i get random freezes and reebots. I dont even game, don't push my pc at all. It happens randomly, when browsing or even just sitting at desktop. It can happen 5seconds after i get into windows and sometimes it can freeze after 40minutes. As I said, random. I've run all diagnostics and even tried with a different psu that i had. Diagnostics didn't show anything, and the problem was still there with the other psu. And it's not a heat issue. And I have a clean freshly installed windows 11 with all the latest updates and drivers installed from the hp drivers page for my omen.

As i said this began after the f23 bios. I know that hp doesn't allow bios rollback. But still, that seems like my last resort. Is there a way to go back to f21?
