OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-1000i (6C1R8AV)

Omen 45L GT22-1013nl --> LINK

By using stock 4x16 5200 MT/s sticks i was able to set XMP 5200 nominal speed. After a while i have solded them because i wanted to upgrade RAM...

I whant ask this question to any Manager, Executive, HP's Technician who can make important decisions about it, because we are talking about SERIOUS SOFTWARE LOCKS deliberately imposed by HP on its HARDWARE.

Bios version: F.31 Rev.A (2024-Oct 24)

This is my story: I bought 4 memory sticks, model: Kingston Technology FURY Beast 128 GB 5200 MT/s DDR5 CL40 DIMM (Kit of 4 modules) RGB XMP [KF552C40BBAK4-128] LINK

I installed them (4 sticks) on my OMEN but the Ram's speed stay locked at 3600 MT/s working.

- I tried to use XMP Profile 1 (5200 MT/s) from BIOS and PC gives me a black screen, and then restarts continuously.

- I tried to use XMP Profile 2 (4800 MT/s) and same identical problem.

- I tried to install only two RAM stick (total 64GB) in DUAL-CHANNEL MODE and  PC adopts a standard profile that makes them go to 4000 MT/s working. If I try to modify XMP from Bios it gives me the same errors shown above.

I am literally pissed off and if HP does not solve this problem about locking third-party RAM limiting the power and potential of my OMEN bought, I swear that THIS WILL BE MY LAST HP PRODUCT THAT I WILL BUY FOR ALL MY LIFE.

Allow me to run this RAM at its full nominal speed: 5200 MT/s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi @Manuel_Ferrante

I understand your concern; however, this is a motherboard and BIOS limitation:

HP motherboards often have restrictions on memory overclocking, even if XMP is supported. Some systems may default to lower speeds (e.g., 3600 MT/s) for stability, especially when using multiple DIMMs

Hi @Manuel_Ferrante

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Commendable diagnosis, superb troubleshooting and splendid description of the issue before posting. Hats off to you on that score. 😊

Here are the RAM upgrade specific details:

  • Standard Memory Configuration: The default configuration for this model is 64 GB DDR5 at 5200 MHz.
  • Memory Slots: It has four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets.
  • Supported RAM Sizes:
    • 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB DDR5 UDIMMs. (You have installed DDR5 CL40 DIMM)
    • Supports up to 128 GB with 32 GB DIMMs on 64-bit computers.

To upgrade the RAM, you will need to:

  1. Ensure Compatibility: Make sure to purchase RAM modules compatible with DDR5-5200 specifications.
  2. Power Off and Unplug: Turn off the PC and unplug it from the power source.
  3. Access the RAM Slots: Remove the side panel to access the RAM slots.
  4. Install the New RAM: Remove existing RAM if necessary, align the new RAM with the slot, and press firmly until it clicks into place.

For more details, refer to the specific model's user manual on the OMEN by HP 45L GT22-1013nl RAM upgrade specifications.

i was been able to run correctly memory on Dual Channel method (slot 2 and 4) and now XMP allow me to use fastest speed possible for 5200 MT/s .

But still limited to 3600 MT/s if i use all other 2 sticks ( 4x32 total) and no way to set XMP to 5200 or 4800 MT/s .
