HP Omen 870-224
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Omen desktop won't read another HDD, I have it all connected, sata is to 3 on the Odense2-k, does the motherboard just not read more than one?

@Tebon , welcome to the Community.

Do you have a SATA data cable connected to the HDD, as well as, the SATA power cable from the PSU?

Yeah both connected, is the data transfer one supposed to be grounded? or is the PSU not giving enough power??  also, it says something about a DST failure?? It reads the HDD in bios but just doesnt work.

Thank you for the additional information, @Tebon!

A long or short DST failure is telling you that HDD has failed.  Therefore, it will not work no matter what you do.

But the drive is new, my computer literally won't startup with more than one and won't read it.  It says there's two in the little bios thing.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer's Tech Support to see if they can help you.  You may have received a HDD that was DOA.

I don't think the motherboard even recognizes the sata port...

I looked in the bios and all that came up was 0 and 2 for the optical drive, is it off?

I suggest disconnecting the optical drive from the SATA port on the motherboard.  Use this port to connect the new hard drive to see if it is recognized.  Then, connect the optical drive to the SATA port that is not showing in the BIOS to see if it works.  If not, there is no way that you can enable it.

Okay so I have everything hooked up, and in the bios I saw 'device config.' And it just said sata0 1.0 tb (my failing seagate) and the cd-rom, so maybe the hard drive is dead, but it's done this before on a 2.5" drive so I put it to the USB 3.0 on the board and it saw it, maybe I should do that with this new one?

Yes, give it a try to see if the new drive responds.  If you don't have one, here is a very useful device for testing and using drives as backup: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Cable-Converter-Drives-Solid/dp/B073SXTY64/ref=asc_df_B073SXTY64/?tag...

I have one of them and use it all of the time.
