HP Omen 25 L Gaming Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Working on a computer that can't boot past HP Omen start page. Have tried subbing in compatible and working operating system, ram, (exact replacement) motherboard, GPU, etc. For our last attempt we ordered a new Ryzen 7 5700 to replace the Ryzen 7 5700 G.

I have a few questions that I am struggling with. Is the 5700 compatible with the same as the 5700G?

Do we need to update the bios and if so how do we upgrade. The bios does not have a bios flash option and I have been unable to get anything to work.

Greetings @SirAldemar

Welcome back to the Forum.

Please provide a HP Product Number for better assistance. Check this Site for details.

What specific components (replacement or original) are installed in the case right now? I think you should go back to the 5700G since you know it works with the BIOS.

You might have jumped the gun by replacing most of the hardware if you have a Windows boot loader problem (system files).

Run the PC in a base config (power supply, MB, CPU, one stick of RAM, and onboard graphics).

Only connect a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

Remove the M.2 SSD to check for a "no bootable device error at startup". Try the original OS drive.

Remove the M.2 WIFI card.

Do one stick of, known good, RAM. Try this stick of RAM in each memory slot.

Try onboard graphics using the 5700G if your MB's rear I/O supports HDMI out or DP out.

Can you get to the UEFI Startup Menu by tapping the "ESC" key at startup?

Can you enter the BIOS or do hardware tests from the UEFI Startup Menu?

The Omen screen at startup could be a POST problem or the BIOS can't talk to the Windows boot loader.

This scenario does not appear to be a BIOS problem, but anything is possible.

Hi,

The product number is 575M3AA#ABA

I appreciate your reply. I did as you said, put the 5700G back in.

Took out the wireless card and the M.2 stick.

The no bootable device error came right up.

It booted with a known good stick of RAM in every slot.

Onboard graphics are not supported.

The UEFI startup menu can be accessed and hardware diagnostics can and everything passes.

I think you're right. Doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.

How would we go about troubleshooting a bootloader issue?

Greetings @SirAldemar

My pleasure.

You have swapped in many replacement components. It sounds like you replaced the: RAM, CPU, MB, graphics card, and used a second SSD with a working operating system.

The second SSD used should have all required system drivers to work with your specific MB. You could experience the same startup problem using a second SSD having an incompatible operating system configuration.

This is a very confusing situation for me because I don't know what components (original or new stuff) you were using when hardware tests passed.

Did you get a hardware pass on all factory installed components including the original factory SSD?

I can't conclude what the problem might be using the info you have provided.

I suggest to take one of the SSDs. Do a HP Cloud Recovery on this SSD. You can mess with the other SSD when you have time to kill.

Check this YouTube video on how to repair a corrupted UEFI boot loader. I don't know if you have this problem at this time.
