So my HP Pavilion Gaming Tower 690 bought 3 years ago here in New Zealand updated its Firmware recently automatically and I also downloaded & installed the Optional HP Fiware update 15.57.0.0. offered by Windows thinking it was the correct thing to do. Well not so. Slowly but surely the BIOS became infected and eventually crashed. Took my HP Pavilion Gaming Tower 690 in to Need A Nerd here in Invercargill New Zealand and the excellent Technician performed every trick in his capacity to repair the INFECTED BIOS but is unable to repair it - leaving me crippled and unable to continue my working my business. I'm now in the 3rd week of not being able to conduct my business on my computer. I am a trauma hemipelvectomy amputee (complete left leg amputee as high as hip & pelvis, plus suffered several serious internal injuries as a result of my near-death motorcycle accident in 1990) and need to RELY on my computer for voluntary work - I am a Voluntary Peer Support for the New Zealand Artificial Limb Service and use my computer to peer support new amputees. Currently I am unable to do this that is very disturbing to me as I value my Voluntary work a lot. I have identified on this excellent Community forum that this infected firmware was released by HP however there is no REPLACEMENT update yet. I have to say this is most unprofessional and I don't really know what to do next. There is a 6 Step Solution offered on this Community forum however I really don't believe I have the necessary skills and experience to successfully implement the 6 Step Solution and surely the Technician where my PC is has the necessary skills and experience to repair the BIOS anyhow. I am now forced in to buying a NEW PC or patiently wait until HP creates a replacement firmware update. This is frustrating to say the least. I have never experienced this. The PC is only 3 years old. It cost a lot of money to buy and get installed in our home. Can anyone please possibly help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

My HP Pavilion Gaming Tower 690-0028a is unrepairable according to a Computer Technician at Need A Nerd computer specialists here in Invercargill New Zealand. I am now forced into buying a new computer. My HP Pavilion Gaming Tower 690-0028a was only 3 years old. It cost $2,347 to buy and install in our home. I will change computer brands now as I will NEVER buy another HP computer ever again as a similar issue happened to my previous HP computer before I bought the HP Pavilion Gaming Tower 690-0028a - so effectively HP has provided 2 unreliable computer towers to me. HP has cost me a lot of my hard earned money. I am looking to buy an ASUS brand computer tower. I hope it will be more reliable than HP.

Sorry for you having a bad experience with HP gaming tower PC. I am also using their products but it lags whenever I run some heavy games. Also, the installed RAM is below the original.
