HP Pavilion Power 580-130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi HP Community,

I have a HP Pavilion Power 580-130 with the Basswood Motherboard, a Ryzen 5 1400 and a AMD RX 580.  The product specification page notes that the processor can be upgraded to the Ryzen 5 1600, or Ryzen 7 1700, as these are supported by the motherboard.

Would I need to update my bios before upgrading? If so, which bios update do I need?

Also, is there anything else I should take into consideration before making the upgrade?

For reference - i'm thinking of going with the Ryzen 5 1600 processor.

Thanks in advanced for the guidance!

I do not think you will need to update your BIOS but here it is.

Both CPU's are a 100% upgrade.

Same Wattage and Stepping.

Okay perfect, I figured that it would be a straightforward process, but wanted to make sure I was 100% sure before proceeding.

Thanks for your guidance, much appreciated.

Cheers,
