HP Pavilion Power Desktop - 580-107ng

I wanted to upgrade my PC so i bought a new Case. I can't find any indicator how to plug in the Front I/O Connectors. Newer Cases don't have a singular IO Connector rather than multiple single or 2 pin Connectors. So can anyone tell me how i need to put the Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED and the two Power LED Connectors?

Hi @paZzaFgB,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly! When you're upgrading the case of your HP Pavilion Power Desktop (580-107ng), you may encounter a situation where the front I/O connectors from the new case don't match the connector on the motherboard. This is a common issue, as different cases and motherboards may have different pin layouts for the front I/O connectors.

Before proceeding, make sure to consult the motherboard manual for your HP Pavilion Power Desktop or locate the pinout diagram near the front panel header on the motherboard itself. The pinout diagram will show you the layout and orientation of the pins for the front I/O connectors.

Here are the typical connections for the front I/O connectors.

  • Power SW (Power Switch): This is a two-pin connector. It is usually labeled "PWR_SW" or something similar on the motherboard. Connect it to the corresponding pins for the power switch.
  • Reset SW (Reset Switch): Another two-pin connector labeled "RESET_SW" on the motherboard. Connect the reset switch to the corresponding pins.
  • HDD LED (Hard Drive Activity LED): This is a two-pin connector labeled "HDD_LED" on the motherboard. Connect the HDD LED to the corresponding pins. The LED indicates hard drive activity.
  • Power LED (Power LED+ and Power LED-): This usually consists of a two-pin connector labeled "PWR_LED" or "PLED" on the motherboard. Connect the positive (usually marked with a "+" or colored) and negative (usually marked with a "-" or white) leads of the Power LED to the corresponding pins.

Make sure to check the motherboard's manual or markings on the motherboard for the specific locations of these connectors. If you are unsure about the polarity of the Power LED, you can usually connect it in either orientation, and if it doesn't light up, you can reverse the connection.

Additionally, some motherboards may have a separate block for these connectors, while others may have individual pins. If the case connectors are separate, you may need to refer to the motherboard manual to identify the correct pins.

Always turn off the computer and disconnect it from the power source before working on the internal components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
