Hi @SfetcuSorin86

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing what you're facing—it’s understandably frustrating when your NVIDIA driver isn’t recognized, especially after expecting a smooth setup.

Let’s walk through a few precise steps to help your system detect and apply the correct driver so your graphics performance returns to normal.

Step 1: Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager

Sometimes the GPU is present but not actively listed.

  1. Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
  2. In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Display adapters and check if your NVIDIA GPU appears.
  4. If listed, right-click and select Enable device or Update driver.

Step 2: Reinstall the Driver Using GeForce Experience

A clean installation can resolve detection issues.

  1. Download and install NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  2. Launch the app and log in.
  3. Go to the Drivers tab and click Check for updates.
  4. Choose Custom Installation and select Clean Install.

Step 3: Scan for Hardware Changes

Force Windows to re-detect the GPU.

  1. In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  2. If the GPU appears, update its driver manually.

Step 4: Reset BIOS to Default

Incorrect BIOS settings can prevent GPU detection.

  1. Restart your PC and press F10 or Del to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for an option to Load Setup Defaults or Reset BIOS Settings.
  3. Save and exit.

Step 5: Use NVIDIA’s Manual Driver Installer

If GeForce Experience doesn’t resolve the issue:

  • Visit: NVIDIA Driver Downloads
  • Select your GPU model and Windows version.
  • Download and install the driver manually.

If you'd like help identifying your exact GPU model or checking compatibility with your system, I’m here to assist. Once the driver is properly installed, your system should recognize the GPU and restore full graphics functionality.
