If you're looking to upgrade your OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop with an additional 16GB of RAM, but can't find the same HyperX module, here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Identify Your Current RAM Specs
Since the HyperX RAM is out of stock, you'll need to match the specs as closely as possible. Based on HP’s common configurations, your system likely uses:
- Type: DDR4
- Speed: 3200MHz (or sometimes 2933MHz depending on the configuration)
- Form Factor: UDIMM (Desktop size)
- Voltage: 1.2V
- Latency: CL16 or CL22 (check your existing RAM)
- Capacity: Likely 16GB per stick
To confirm, you can:
- Open Task Manager → Go to the Performance tab → Click on Memory to check the speed.
- Use CPU-Z (a free tool) to see detailed RAM specifications.
For more info read detailed guide
Step 2: Compatible RAM Options
Since HyperX (now branded as Kingston Fury) is unavailable, look for alternatives with similar specs:
- Kingston Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 (Similar to HyperX)
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3200
- Crucial Ballistix 16GB DDR4-3200
- G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB DDR4-3200
These will work as long as they match the speed and voltage (3200MHz, 1.2V). If your current RAM is 2933MHz, a 3200MHz module will automatically adjust to match.
Step 3: Single vs Dual Channel Consideration
- If your system already has one 16GB stick, adding another 16GB of the same speed and latency will enable dual-channel mode for better performance.
- If you mix different brands or latencies, your PC will likely default to the lowest-performing module.
