OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-1000a (6M9K7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have had this desktop since april this year, so for almost half a year. In the beginning it worked perfectly fine, but after it started showing issues with games like Valorant. It would constantly crash and at one point I couldn't even open the game or my pc would shut off to restart itself. Sometimes this was paired with a blue screen. Sometimes it would freeze my whole pc and keyboard and mouse and I had to force shut off my computer.

I tried to reinstall/reset my whole desktop 3 times, for some time it works but now the problems started again. All my drivers are up to date but i can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I am really tired of not being able to use this computer for what it's made for: playing games. Today I tried a new game and also that one froze and crashed two times.

Is there anyone that can help me?

Hi @AlwynHorreur,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm really sorry you're experiencing these issues with your OMEN desktop, especially since it's such a powerful machine. It can be incredibly frustrating when a device meant for gaming doesn’t perform as expected. Let’s see if we can figure out what's going wrong.

  • Are you noticing any specific patterns regarding when the crashes or freezes happen, such as during certain game actions or after a specific amount of time?
  • Have you checked the temperature of your GPU and CPU during gameplay? Overheating can sometimes cause crashes or shutdowns.
  • Are there any specific error messages or codes shown during the blue screen (BSOD)?

Let's try these steps.

Check for Overheating

  • Use a program like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming.
  • If temperatures exceed safe limits (typically 80-90°C for gaming), you may need to clean the internal components or improve airflow.

Check Event Viewer for Errors

  • Press Win + X > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System.
  • Look for error messages or warnings that correlate with the crashes or BSOD events. This may give more insight into what's causing the issue (e.g., hardware failure, driver conflict, etc.).

Test with Stress Testing Tools

  • Use tools like Prime95 (for CPU stress testing) and FurMark (for GPU stress testing) to check the stability of your system under heavy load.
  • This will help identify if there’s a hardware issue such as unstable components or insufficient power.

Check System Logs for BSOD Errors

  • Since you mentioned blue screens, use BlueScreenView to analyze the minidumps generated during the crashes.
  • This tool will show you if a particular driver or hardware is causing the issue.

Perform a Clean Boot

  • To rule out software conflicts, perform a clean boot by disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup programs.
  • Restart your computer and check if the issue persists while running games with minimal background programs.

These steps should help narrow down the cause of the crashes and help you get back to smooth gaming. If the problem continues, there might be a deeper hardware issue, and I’d recommend contacting HP support for further diagnosis or considering warranty repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
