Device Info:
Model: HP Victus (16-s0047nt -76t53av)
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
BIOS Version: f29
GPUs: AMD Radeon CPU ( AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
8 Cores ) + NVIDIA RTX 4060

Dear HP Support,

I am experiencing a persistent graphics issue on my HP Victus laptop:

  • When Hybrid GPU mode (AMD + NVIDIA) is enabled, the screen goes completely black, and I am unable to use the system.

  • When I switch to NVIDIA GPU only, the system boots, but as soon as I open a game or GPU-intensive application, the screen starts flickering rapidly or turns off and on repeatedly.

  • The internal display continuously flickers, even outside of games.

  • BIOS is updated to the latest version and so are the GPU drivers (both AMD and NVIDIA).

  • The issue does not occur on an external monitor, which points toward a possible issue with the internal display or panel interface.

Hi @Ziyad7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm truly sorry you're facing this—especially when everything else seems up to date. It's deeply frustrating when a powerful system like yours struggles with basic display stability.

The black screen and flickering on your HP Victus 16-s0047nt appear to stem from a conflict between Hybrid GPU mode and the internal display interface. You can stabilize the system by disabling Hybrid Mode, adjusting panel refresh settings, and performing a clean GPU driver reinstall.

Let’s walk through targeted steps to restore smooth performance and eliminate the flickering.

1. Disable Hybrid GPU Mode in BIOS

Since Hybrid Mode causes a black screen, switch to discrete GPU mode:

  • Restart and press Esc > F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Navigate to Advanced > Graphics Configuration.
  • Set Hybrid Graphics to Disabled or choose Discrete GPU Only.
  • Save and exit.

This forces the system to use the NVIDIA RTX 4060 exclusively.

2. Adjust refresh rate and panel settings

Flickering often stems from mismatched refresh rates or panel timing:

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings.
  • Set the refresh rate to 60Hz or the panel’s native rate.
  • Avoid dynamic refresh rate settings like VRR or G-Sync unless confirmed stable.

3. Perform a clean reinstall of GPU drivers

Even updated drivers can conflict if remnants remain.

Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)

Reinstall drivers manually

Install AMD first, then NVIDIA. Avoid using auto-detect tools.

4. Test with external monitor and internal display

Since the external monitor works fine, this confirms the GPU pipeline is functional. After reinstalling drivers:

  • Disconnect the external monitor.
  • Boot using internal display only.
  • Observe whether flickering persists.

5. Optional: Disable Panel Self Refresh (PSR)

Some AMD panels use PSR, which can cause flickering.

  • Open AMD Adrenalin Software.
  • Go to Display > Specs > Panel Self Refresh.
  • Disable it if available.

Let me know if the flickering stops after these steps or if the internal display stabilizes—I’ll guide you further based on what you observe.
