Hi @Kayy20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have issues connecting your HP laptop to Wi-Fi, especially when you need it for college assignments. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem step by step.
Check Wi-Fi Switch and Airplane Mode:
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi switch on your laptop is turned on. Sometimes laptops have physical switches or keyboard shortcuts (like Fn key + F12) to toggle Wi-Fi on/off.
- Check if Airplane Mode is turned off, as it disables all wireless connections including Wi-Fi.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Restart your laptop and see if the Wi-Fi networks appear afterward.
Check Wi-Fi Visibility:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is broadcasting correctly from the router. You can check this by trying to connect another device (like a smartphone or another laptop) to the same network.
Update Wi-Fi Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted Wi-Fi drivers can cause connectivity issues. Go to the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest Wi-Fi drivers. Install them and restart your laptop.
Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi Network:
- Sometimes, your laptop might have trouble reconnecting to a network it previously connected to.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Click on your Wi-Fi network, then select Forget.
- Reconnect by clicking on the network again and entering the password.
Reset Network Settings:
- Resetting network settings can sometimes resolve persistent Wi-Fi issues.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click on Network reset. Follow the prompts to reset your network settings.
Check Router Settings:
- Log in to your router's admin panel (usually accessed through a web browser by typing the router's IP address) and ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled and broadcasting properly. Sometimes adjusting Wi-Fi channel settings can improve connectivity in crowded Wi-Fi areas.
Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can identify and automatically fix some common connectivity issues.
- Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot problems.
Hopefully, one of these steps resolves your Wi-Fi connectivity problem so you can get back to your college assignments smoothly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
