@oceananoun,

Your computer has a GTX 1050TI. Some versions are powered via 6 pin PCIe cable.  I asked, because normally HP would install a 310W if no need for PCIe power to the GTX 1050Ti.  Your 400W PSU does have a 6+2 PCie power cable.   So, again, is there a cable from the power supply to the GTX 1050Ti card ?   0/6 : 0  means card does not have a PCIe power socket.   6 means card require 6 pin PCIe power plug.

I was trying to get an answer as to why your unit has a 400W PSU, so I could include it into the spreadsheet.

Your answer on what the 400W PSU would support is in the spreadsheet. Example GTX 1060, 1070

@oceananoun

Thank you for the complete model number.  HP 790-0031 (circa 2018),  as shown here,  has the following:

1) Berks motherboard

2) GTX 1050Ti GPU 4GB, 75W,  DDR5.

    Does you GTX 1050Ti have a 6 pin PCie power plug ?   Some  1050Ti's need extra power.

3) HP proprietary 400W PSU  (L04618-800). There is a 500W PSU  L05757-800  (maximum).

So, you must plan accordingly on GPU card length and power.  Here is a spreadsheet that can help. There are examples of various cards, their wattage, and what PSU powered it.

I don't quite understand the chart, but from what I see my GTX 1050 Ti 4GB has 0/6 pins ( what do they mean by 0/6 ) and I am looking to upgrade to a single fan. please if you could also recommend a GPU that is better than my gtx 1050 ti

Perfect, thank you. If that's the 400w PSU indeed, the option is all the way up to RTX 2070 or 2060 Super.
