I'm looking to change the parts inside of my PC such as the CPU and GPU, is that possible?

I saw posts saying it isn't possible but I'm looking to upgrade it ASAP since my PC is getting slower and just for personal preference to play other games like COD Cold War

 

Current Parts I have:

I5-9400

GTX 1050TI

 

Any suggestions would be great aswell

The best place to begin with upgrading a computer for playing games is the System Requirements of the game/s.  Here are the System Requirements for COD Cold War: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war/20163

 

The Minimum Requirements will play the game on lower settings.  The Recommended Requirements will play the game at the highest settings which is what we all want.

 

Your major problem will be the power supply unit (PSU).  It is only 310W.  The motherboard is HP proprietary.  It has a 4-pin power connector, instead of the standard ATX 24-pin power connector.  This means that you will have to buy any new PSU from HP.  The highest wattage that HP sells for your model is 500W (L05757-800).  Here is a Power Supply Cross-Reference Chart to show you where I got this information: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

 

Your exact model is not in the Chart, but any of the PSU's used in the 690 series will work.

You can look at the section titled "Processor upgrade information" for a list of compatible processor upgrades.  However, I believe your current processor should work fine.  You can test it to see what happens.  If you still want to upgrade you can use the information that I provided.
