@Abhishek777, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Basic Checks
Restart Your Laptop – This can resolve temporary glitches.
Check for External Damage – Wiggle the screen gently to see if movement triggers flickering (could be a loose cable).
Try an External Monitor – Connect your laptop to an external display:
If the external monitor doesn’t flicker, the issue is likely with your laptop screen or its cable.
If it does flicker, it’s likely a software or GPU issue.
Software Troubleshooting
1. Update or Reinstall Display Drivers
Press Win + X → Device Manager → Display adapters.
Right-click your GPU (e.g., NVIDIA/AMD/Intel) → Update driver.
Or download the latest drivers directly from: Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
2. Check for Windows Updates
Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
3. Adjust Refresh Rate
Settings → System → Display → Advanced display settings.
Try reducing or increasing the refresh rate (e.g., from 144Hz to 60Hz or vice versa).
4. Disable Hardware Acceleration
Some apps (like Chrome or Discord) can cause flickering with hardware acceleration:
For Chrome: Settings → System → Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.
Hardware Considerations
Check Battery & Power Supply – A faulty power adapter can cause instability. Try using the laptop on battery only.
Overheating – Overheating can cause flickering. Clean vents and use cooling pads.
Loose Display Cable – If flickering happens when adjusting the screen angle, it might be a loose or damaged cable. This requires disassembly (or professional help).
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
