Hi @DEVILMINDEDBOY,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the keyboard on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop is not working properly, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can solve temporary issues. Restart your laptop and see if the keyboard starts working again.
Check for Physical Obstructions: Make sure there's no debris or dirt blocking the keys. If you see anything, gently clean the keyboard with compressed air or a soft brush.
Update Keyboard Drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your keyboard, and select "Update driver."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.
Check Keyboard Settings:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to "Devices" and then "Typing."
- Ensure that "Use the hardware keyboard" is turned on.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
- Find and run the "Keyboard" troubleshooter.
System Restore:
- If the problem started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before the issue occurred. Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu and follow the steps.
External Keyboard Test:
- If you have an external USB keyboard, try connecting it to see if it works. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop's keyboard or something deeper.
BIOS Update:
- Updating the BIOS can sometimes address hardware-related issues. Visit HP's official website, enter your laptop's model number, and download the latest BIOS update. Follow the instructions carefully to update the BIOS.
Hardware Check:
- If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the keyboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
