Need help with renovating my pc

HP Recommended
HP prodesk 400 g1 MT
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I want to renovate this old pc i found so i can play easy to run games on it. The only problem i have is that im not sure if the motherbboard is compatible with other graphics cards then the one that already is inside( Intel graphics 4400) the motherboard i have is the Hewlett-Packard 198E.

@Sanderr109 , welcome to the forum.


Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  In Chapter 3, Illustrated parts catalog, Page 19, is a list of compatible video cards.  Of course, due to the age of the computer, none of them are very up to date.  I suggest that you choose a manufacturer of video cards and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for your system.  They are the experts on their products and normally have a good idea of which cards are compatible with which computer manufacturer's products.  This will save you time, money and frustration.


Note: You may have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU), also.  It is only 300W.  Most of the newer cards require a minimum of 400W to operate properly.
