HP has their motherboards made to their specifications. Therefore, they are not necessarily the same as a retail board. This means that the stand-offs for the motherboard in the case may not match the holes in a retail board. Also, there have been reports of the front case connectors not matching retail boards. Your best option would be to choose a motherboard manufacturer and contact their Tech Support. They are the experts on their products and should be able to tell if their boards would work in a HP case.
