After taking my pc to Office Depot after I trying to install new ram they said the motherboard must have shorted and  I need a new motherboard   What board can I get?? I got a new cpu coming it a I7 -7700 So they said it needs to be compatible with that

@ImaNoob , welcome back to the forum.

 

Your best option would be to buy the same motherboard.  Unfortunately, HP no longer sells it.  I normally recommend searching ebay.  Here is the HP Part # 862992-602.

 

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain why changing motherboards may not work:

It discusses moving your HP motherboard to another case, but you will meet the same obstacles if you try to upgrade the motherboard using the HP case.

Otherwise, you may damage the new motherboard or other components.  You can most likely find one at Office Depot for a reasonable price.
