Noise of fans of OMEN 30 L

Hello,

just bought the new OMEN 30L 4 weeks ago, and I;m quite surprised about the noise of the fan and how quickly the temperature goes up. Sounds a bit like a hairdryer next to me.

Is there a solution to reduce the noise level? Guess the system is unable to cope with the new NVIDA card...

Hi there, there is no solution, the I9 CPU runs extremely hot for the 120mm AIO and the fan needs to spin at very high RPMs to keep the temperatures relatively in control. The only real solution is migrating the internals to a better case and using at least 240mm AIO. I think HP didn't account for the excessive heat that the I9 is producing, that same stock AIO is working fine with the I5 and I7 versions.

there is a workaround (worked for me) for CPU

but the real problem is GPU. It is loud and memory modules are on 110C

I'm not sure what model is that to get a water cooler for it.

You need to edit the registry to be able to see the turbo boost setting in windows.
Its not visible by default.

I undervolted the cpu by 100mv and its stable. For testing I used prime95 and intel burn test.
Since these are AVX tests the cpu gets really hot. Real world applications like games dont stress the cpu as much.

The 97c probably come from hitting 250w just after starting the test.
The fan still runs at idle mode and the cpu jumps to that temperature so fast the fan just can’t react in time.
If you run burn test or any other test you should watch for the average temperature.

Throttlestop needs to run in the background unfortunately.
There are no advanced settings in BIOS to set these values permanently.
I just created a task for throttlestop so it starts minimized when I log on.
Its a crutch, but it works.

I'm having i7-10070k with RTX 3080, and tried quite a few options (including switching from AIO into Noctua NH-U9S and reversing rear fan), but now I've settled with

- changing AIO fan into Noctua NF-F12 PWM  chromax.black (original fan is 4500 and is very noise when in full speed, Noctua is 1500 RPM max and still keeps radiotar cool)

- switched rear fan to Noctua NF-A9 PWM chromax.black

- undervolt CPU by -0.120v with Omen Desktop

- undervolt GPU into 806 mV/1815 MHz with MSI Afterburner

that's it! I don't think I'm loosing too much performance and there's night and day difference on the noise level vs the original setup.
