OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0380t CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

under high loads like rendering images or playing a intense video game, my computer black screens but the system continues to run. Has anyone found a cause for this or a possible solution I may try?

Thank you and I look forward to your answers.

Hi @JohnJake16

The GT13-0380t CTO is a pick your component at purchase PC. So HP does not provide component details.

HP uses two different MBs in your PC, the Dorado or the DoradoOC.

Have you upgraded any components? Are you overclocking any components using Omen Command Center?

Are you using the latest graphics card drivers?

The symptom can be caused by a few different things. Check all cable connections to the MB and check/reseat components. Finding the bad part is a process of elimination. It is very difficult to diagnose a component problem in a Forum.

I would look at components in the following order:

-Power supply. Try a different power supply.

-RAM problem. Try different RAM. Try each stick of factory RAM, one at a time, in each memory socket.

-Failing graphics card. Try a different card. Try onboard graphics if your CPU supports this.

-CPU problem. Try a different CPU.

-MB problem. Try a different MB.

I don't think it's thermal related. The PC would normally shut down when this happens. But you can't rule this out. It is pointless to run stress tests and temp/component monitoring software. The PC crashes under a heavy load.

Are you in warranty? Contact HP. If not, it is best to have a local PC Tech troubleshoot this problem. This Tech would have replacement components needed to find the bad part.

Regards
