@Xaviiiiil,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

No, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is not compatible with OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop GT21-0xxx platforms.

These high-end processors are compatible with your PC:

Ryzen 7 5800X (3.80 GHz up to 4.70 GHz, 8-Cores, 16-Threads, 105-watt TDP)

Ryzen 9 5900X (3.70 GHz up to 4.80 GHz, 12-Cores, 24-Threads, 105-watt TDP)

Kind Regards,

HP messenger support has told me that both the R7 7500x3d and the R7 5800x3d are compatible. Who should I believe?

@Xaviiiiil,

Who do I believe?

Well, I am the kind of person who believes in facts on the ground.  So, I believe in over 1,800 HP System OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop GT21-0xxx Users where none have installed a Ryzen 7 5800X3D: UserBenchmark: HP OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop GT21-0xxx Compatible Components.

Point being, I would think it exceedingly unlikely that if a Ryzen 7 5800X3D was compatible with your system, not to see a single User with it...

Kind Regards,

It is a pre-assembled PC, so they do not usually do component upgrades. I have contacted HP support and they have told me that the processors in the 5000 range are compatible since the motherboard has an AM4 socket.

@Xaviiiiil,

Well, then, since HP is adamant a Ryzen 7 5800X3D is compatible with your system, go with it.

If they are correct, please follow up!
