Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good afternoon all!

I purchased an Omen X - 900 built to order and it was received last Thursday. I wasn't able to set it up until Friday (8-16-19) and that is when I found out that the blue LED light on the bottom quadrant wont turn off even when using the Omen Command Center to turn off all the lights on the case. That LED light still manages to stay on. After talking with Tech Support, they informed me it was a hardware issue and I can either take it to a repair center or get an exchange. While I spent so much on this computer, I wanted an exchange but the exchange policy is really dumb as it would require me to get charged for another computer if I wanted it faster or wait 3-6 days for the refund to process then wait another 2-3 weeks for a unit to get built and shipped.

Sorry for the slight rant but all I'm wondering is if this is a simple fix that a repair shop or myself can do or should I just go with the exchange and bite the bullet and wait an extremely long time?

Here's a picture of the issue.20190820_140047.jpg

Any help is appreciated!

Hello @RequiemDreamer

That is very frustrating indeed. But I personally would bite the bullet on this one. I would have no way of knowing if its an LED failure, cabling or the control module itself. If you could get the parts, it would be pricey and you might run into more problems.

Considering its warrantied, I would just let HP refund you and build another one.

Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate the response! I'm currently waiting to hear back from a HP rep due to some concerns about turnaround time and being charged a second time around for an exchange. Thank you again for your response.

I'm keeping this open for now to see if anyone else has any kind of input on this or has come across this problem.

Good evening all,

I ended up getting a replacement Omen X. And it still has the same issue. Is this normal for the new Omen X cases? Here are some pictures.
