OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-1075t

HP Omen 25L will not go to sleep except for every now and again. Very frustrating since maybe one out of ten times it does go to sleep.  I called customer support and they asked me why I want my computer to go to sleep?  I got my first computer in 1991 and have always used sleep.  HP is just covering up for a defective product.  Anyone have any thoughts?

PS: My product wasn't listed in the product name list so I had to choose my old computer from the list.  This is my current computer: OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-1075t Bundle PC, Windows 11 Home, Intel® Core™ i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB ...

Hi @zam5

I don't understand why you did not get assistance from HP Support if the PC is brand new.

So, the PC will not consistently go to sleep. I guess it immediately wakes. Or what happens when you select sleep but the PC will not sleep?

Does the PC wake correctly when it does go to sleep?

Did you add internal components to the MB? Are you only connecting a USB: mouse and keyboard to the PC?

This is a tough problem to fix because so many variables affect the sleep function.

Check this Site for some W10 sleep troubleshooting tips. Most of the tips should be relevant to W11.

A BIOS update might fix this. But I am not sure if the problem PC is a GT15-1075t or a different product number.

I used to have sleep problems with W7 but have been having no issues since running W10 and W11. So something is wrong with your PC's hardware or hardware drivers or you have a configuration problem.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the info.  I went to the site and tried to run an energy report.  It said that it was observing the system for 60 seconds, but, it never generated a report.  I tried it several times.  Maybe I need to send the computer back.  I fear there may be other latent problems that are not obvious at this time.

Hi @zam5

Yes, I would contact HP Support for more assistance.

What is the product number? A BIOS update, if one exists, might help.

You could also do a HP Cloud Recovery after backing up data. Check this Site for details. Don't install any drivers or software. Test the PC for a while. The PC should sleep using the HP factory image.

Same problem after the HP factory recovery may point to a hardware problem or a faulty system image.

Your new PC  should not have a sleep problem unless you installed a buggy driver or are using a peripheral which is causing the problem.
