OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-1000i (6C1R9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hey everyone! I'm one of three people I know with a CPU fan grinding noise on a brand new 45L, GT22-1455xt. This is the model with 13900k and 4090. Great machine, cool and fast. But the grinding noise is really annoying. It's only around 800-1200rpm. The worst part is, when I'm working the fan will speed up and slow down, and the grinding sound, gets louder, quieter, louder, quieter - constantly. I can send a brief video to demonstrate.

I'm talking with two other owners of the same 45L over on the Omen Discord Server. I'm hoping they will chime in as well.

Thanks so much for any help!!

Hi @Alsandar

Nice machine, never had the chance to get my hands on one to check it out.

You seem to have isolated the noise to a fan problem. Do you know which fan is making the grinding noise? I am guessing your PC has about 11 fans (4 chassis, 3 radiator, 3 4090, and one PSU) and has a AIO CPU Liquid cooler.

A fan can make a ticking sound if it does not spin freely. I guess rapid fan contact against the fan assembly might cause a grinding sound.

A grinding noise could also be caused by a bad fan bearing. AIO CPU Liquid cooled pumps can sometimes make a gurgling sound.

I would contact HP Support for warranty service.

Regards
