HP Omen 875 - 0020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Pretty much the title. Currently have a Brand new Omen 875 0020, the i7 8400 and the 1060 6GB fit my needs just fine but the 8gb RAM just wont do so im upgrading it. Im wondering if i can get away with adding a 16gb to the second slot and leaving the single 8gb one in the second slot. My old PC had possible combos in the manual but i cant find anything about this. Anyone have any info on it?

Side question.... Do i need to complete the initail PC setup before swapping the RAM or can i do it before i even turn it on for the first time.

thanks in advance.

Hello @cbennett8787

First and Foremost... Always test a new PC as it came out of the box before upgrading. You need to make sure everything works as its supposed to in case  you have a warranty issue.

Technically yes you can configure the ram with an 8+16GB stick.

BUT NO guarantees it will work. Sometimes with HP's, if you mix and match different ram controllers or timings, they wont always play well together. So test your machine, then add the other stick. If it works, you are golden.
