My CPU is affected by the Ryzen bug described here
https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Ryzen-Segv-Response
I was wondering, if AMD does not fix that with a microcode update and the CPU needs replacment will I have to contact HP or AMD to get a replacement CPU. Also, how long after the purchase is this covered by the warranty?
Thanks.

This forum is not directly connected with Support. You would have to contact HP Support directly.
But I can tell you from experience that most HP Computers are warrantied for 1 year from purchase and this will include your Omen desktop. You can extend the coverage for an extra fee.
AMDs warranty is not going to be relevant here as you purchased an OEM PC, thus the warranty for parts is up to that OEM.
Next, HP covers the PC to work as advertised with Windows, not Linux.
The issue stated in the article is concerning Linux Only. "AMD's testing of this issue under Windows hasn't uncovered problematic behavior."
So will HP replace your CPU? I highly doubt it.
Just sayin. Good luck.

If you are still affected by this, you may want to look into the following:
https://github.com/corngood/kill-ryzen-win
It's a tool to cause the fault to occur under Windows - which would mean that HP would have to deal with it as a warranty issue.
Hope this helps.
