OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-0000i (393C5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Dear HP

I just bought the OMEN HP 45L PC which should contain the following sound-card: "5.1 Surround Sound OMEN Audio Control Support DTS:X® Ultra". --> can be found on your official HP website: https://www.hp.com/ch-de/shop/product.aspx?id=657s3ea&opt=uuz&sel=dtp#technical-details

Now, after seting up the PC I figured out, that the sound is just horrible. I don't have any other software on this device which allows me to set up the advertised surround sound, nor can I change any audio settings like equalizer etc.

It's just pure, flat sound. After searching for software I ended up finding this nice app: "OMEN audio control" which can be found in the web at microsoft store: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/omen-audio-control/9P5ZF3QWZT2D?hl=en-us&gl=us

However, when launching the microsoft store app locally on my pc, I won't be able to find that app and when executed via the provided link, it will pop the error: 0x803FB005, unrecognized error occured.

I just finished reinstalling windows 11 completely on this PC, hence, no chance it is windwos at all.

Drivers are all up to date, HP assistant states that. As there is nothing else I can currelty do, I'm hoping you could help me out with my problem.

I have a gaming PC with terrible sound, cause I can't install any official OMEN Audio Software to deal with equalizer etc.

How, dear HP support, am I supposed to do that?

Best regards

Hi

I don't work for HP.

I can't answer all questions you have asked or provide a fix to your audio problem without suggesting you either buy a DAC and downstream amplifier or get: amplified speakers and subwoofer. Don't know what the SNR ratios on playback and recording are for the HP Realtek ALC3866. So amplifying reduced SNRs may not produce great audio output.

Premium Realtek audio now is ALC4080 at 120 SNR dB playback and 113 dB SNR recording. Also don't know if Realtek 3866 provides ASIO protocol.

Or try a discrete premium PCIe audio card. But some people have been having problems installing a PCIe audio card in the last generation HP gaming PCs; it is not detected by the motherboard. I have not seen a solution to the undetected audio card problem to date.

I opted to upgrade the speakers.

Unfortunately this stuff is not cheap.

My PC is my primary audio system. So I bit the bullet by investing in better amplified speakers.
