Omen HP Desktop 870-224 microphone issue
10-14-2018 04:02 AM - edited 10-14-2018 04:03 AM

Dear HP and the community,
I've bought a Omen Desktop by HP, it's a 870-224. Now I downloaded Discord (a platform where you talk with your friends in a voicechat) and my voice didn't work. I have 2 cables from my headset, a sound cable and a mic cable. Now on the front of my desktop there are 2 holes. one is from sound and one from mic. I put both of my cables from my mic in the holes in the FRONT of my desktop and only sound works, Mic doesn't recognize.. Now I've basically tried everything and came here for help. I bought a PC from you guys so I want guaranteed mic working. Please help me, I'm pretty decent in English language so I would like to have a solution!
Thanks for helping me, I appreciate it.
Yours Faithfully,
BlueInstant

Hello @BlueInstant
Have you went into the Sound settings and made sure the headset mic is set as the default mic?
Type Sound Setting in the Search Bar (Cortana) and hit the Enter key.
When the little window pops open, choose the Recording tab.
Make sure the Headset mic is seen and chosen as the Default Device.
It its not see or if it is but its still not working, can you test the mic on another computer? Its possible the mic doesnt work.
Ive had several headsets that had faulty mics.
You can also plug in a stand alone mic to test with also.

You should be able to see the headset name in the properties also.
Like this for example...
What headset are you using?
It would appear the plug is not making contact properly.
