I received my Omen PC a couple of weeks ago and after the microcode fix it has been working great. However, the other day I powered on my PC and it was stuck in a bootloop. I investigated and found that one stick of RAM was not functioning properly. I know that the one stick of RAM is faulty as the PC boots without it inserted and also with the working stick of RAM in the same slot the broken one was in. Anyway, I contacted HP technical support where I asked if they could send the stick of RAM but they said that they need to send a replacement PC and require my current PC to be returned beforehand. Am I being unreasonable to think that it is a big hassle to have to send a whole new PC to replace one which works flawlessly apart from one stick of RAM which can easily be replaced? I don't really know what to say to them because I don't want to lose my data, as there's no way I can back up over 1tb, or be without a PC as my current PC still works with the one stick of RAM.
Thanks

From one user to another: no, it is altogether not unreasonable for having HP send you a replacement RAM stick.
Unfortunately, like many big businesses, HP's adherence to strict SOPs (standard operating procedures) means that the basic idea of "one size (approach) fits all" often prevails over more individualistic and thus more customer-friendly tech support.
Look, if I was in charge, hypothetically, I would immediately make sure to expedite sending you a replacement stick. That's what I would do in my current non-HP management position -but I digress.
Talk again to your United Kingdom HP tech support and try to appeal to their sense of providing top-notch customer support/satisfaction.
Kind Regards,

I just thought it was strange. The only options were replacement of the pc or refund. I was told that replacement parts are not part of their process. In the world we live in where companies are trying to reduce emissions etc etc surely it makes more sense just to send a small stick of ram in the post then have to collect a large pc and then deliver another large pc but hey-ho that's what they do.
