Pavilion 580-023w Problem after RAM Upgrade

Pavilion 580-023w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My PC won’t work after installing 16GB RAM. I reset my computer and in the process added more RAM. When I did the usb via Windows 10 download and plug it into my computer, it loads the installation screen but it doesn’t do anything else. It goes to to the installation in progress screen and with the hour glass mouse icon showing but stays at 0 percent and after a few minutes my mouse and keyboard go dead. Does this mean my computer is bricked ? Or does it mean I gotta buy another hard drive?

@ebarnes25, welcome to the forum.

First things first, which memory did you use to upgrade to 16 GB?  If it is not compatible with the motherboard this could be your problem.

Pavilion 580-023w Problem after RAM Upgrade

Sorry my account went weird but it’s still me I figured out that the BIOS is out of date and that might be what’s causing the freezing. I got the update software on a blank usb but I don’t know where to update it at due to the fact I don’t have a operating system at the moment ? Am I missing something?

Thank you for the additional information, @ebarnes25.

I believe that it would be best if you remove the new memory and go back to the original configuration.  This may allow you to boot the computer.  Then, you can do the BIOS update using an update provided by HP.  Otherwise, the update won't work.
